Oops

The site (Chez and Glad) should return to normal soon… I forgot about the time zones between me and GMT (8 hours) and accidentally let the site security certificate expire. I renewed it at 0030 GMT on the 18th, but it might take a few hours before all the DNS services refresh. Hopefully soon! My bad, I’ll renew earlier next year (there’s no automatic renewal for some reason…).

Update, turns out I had a few extra steps to work out before this all worked. A kajillion apologies for this going off the rails for a day, I set that all up last year when there was a LOT going on and I simply forgot the nuance required to get HTTPS working (encrypted pages served up to your browser). Encryption as pages load over the internet is extremely important for banking, email, your Social Security stuff, medical stuff, etc. Not too important for our little site, but it is still the best practice, so it’s back to using encryption. I’ll leave myself notes for next early February so this is all seamless.

Happy tiling, again!!

    1. And also it is independent of the shufflerack server so can be updated even if that service goes dark for some reason. Cert still hasn’t showed up for my clients — it won’t show up for everybody at the same time, but it’s been 18.75 hours, they said it could take from 1 to 24 hours.

      1. Hi all, it takes some time for these changes to propagate vis DNS and the internet and built-in latencies, and possibly cache servers.

        cheers

      2. It’s been 24 hours here, EST, and I’m still not getting on the site. I am getting an error message that says it is a non-private website and may be fraudulent to try and collect my financial or personal information. Are we still on a holding pattern? Thanks Ben
